The Spires

I went into *The Spires* expecting a standard domestic thriller, but Moretti delivered something far more unsettling. Emily’s journey from victim to someone dangerously unstable is brilliantly executed, and the reveal of her past is handled with precision, avoiding the usual melodramatic pitfalls. The apartment building itself almost becomes a character, with its eerie atmosphere and shifting alliances among residents. My only quibble is that a few subplots (like Emily’s strained relationship with her sister) feel underdeveloped, as if Moretti was juggling too many threads. Siiri Scott’s narration is a standout, though. Her voice has a way of making even mundane dialogue feel charged with tension, and she nails the character’s descent into obsession. The production quality is top-notch, with subtle sound design heightening the unease—though at one point, a background noise (like a distant slam) made me jump out of my skin. It’s the kind of audiobook that demands your full attention, and Scott ensures you’re hooked. If you love thrillers that mess with your head in the best way, this is a must-listen.
