The Vampire

I was hooked from the moment Marlon woke up in that coffin. The premise is so deliciously creepy and original, I couldn't help but be drawn in. Guy Veryzer's narration is a perfect match for this story, his voice able to switch effortlessly from Marlon's weariness to his hunger, to his moments of tender vulnerability. The pacing is spot on, building tension and suspense until you're on the edge of your seat, waiting to see if Marlon will finally find love or if he'll be forever cursed to his grave. My only critique is that the secondary characters could have been a bit more fleshed out, but that's a small complaint in an audiobook that's otherwise a thrilling, chilling, and surprisingly romantic ride.
