I was immediately drawn into 'The Wall' by its stark, unapologetic portrayal of a future America that feels all too possible. Penn's prose is lean and muscular, packing a punch with every sentence. But what really sets this audiobook apart is Luke Welland's narration. He manages to capture the essence of each character, from the jaded, sarcastic teen protagonist to the stern, unyielding military commander. The pacing is spot-on, building tension like a slow-burn thriller until it explodes into action-packed set pieces that had me gripping my steering wheel. My only critique is that some of the political jargon can feel a bit heavy-handed at times, but it's a small price to pay for such a thought-provoking listen.
