About This Audiobook

Sadie doesn’t fit in—and not just because she’s the only high schooler without supernatural powers. While her psychic best friend Jo drops cryptic hints about a future she refuses to reveal, Sadie grapples with isolation in a world where everyone else can shift, read minds, or summon fire with a glance. The tension between normalcy and hidden potential simmers beneath every interaction, making her journey less about power and more about identity. Brandi Elledge subverts the chosen-one trope by grounding Sadie’s struggle in emotional authenticity, anchoring a paranormal world with real teenage vulnerability. Heather Masters’ narration elevates the story with a performance that’s both intimate and dynamic. She gives Sadie a dry, self-deprecating wit that feels lived-in, while sharply distinguishing the more flamboyant voices of the supernatural cast. Her pacing tightens at key reveals, particularly during the slow unraveling of Sadie’s true lineage—culminating in a twist that redefines everything. What sets this audiobook apart is its balance: snarky high school dynamics meet genuine emotional stakes, all wrapped in a paranormal mystery that refuses to take itself too seriously. It’s less about fangs and fury, more about finding your place when the world assumes you already know yours.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I went into The Werewolf Queen expecting a standard supernatural teen romance, but what I got was sharper, funnier, and far more emotionally grounded. Heather Masters’ narration immediately won me over—her delivery of Sadie’s inner monologue is perfectly pitched, full of sarcastic asides and quiet ache. She doesn’t over-dramatize; instead, she lets the humor and heartbreak breathe, which makes the story’s bigger moments land even harder. The way she voices Jo—slightly spacey but with an undercurrent of urgency—adds real tension to their friendship, especially when Jo withholds that critical piece of Sadie’s future. The world-building is clever without being overwhelming, and Elledge drops clues about Sadie’s origins with surgical precision. That said, the middle sags a bit—there’s a stretch where the school-day banter starts to feel repetitive, and a few secondary characters don’t get enough development to justify their impact on the plot. But the final two hours? Glue-to-the-earbuds territory. The voice modulation during the ritual scene gave me chills, and the resolution, while setting up a sequel, still feels satisfying. Audiobook listeners who enjoy character-driven fantasy with a snarky edge will find a lot to love here.
