As someone who's been avidly listening to audiobooks for years, I can confidently say that Amanda Berry's narration of The Worlds We Defy is a standout performance. Her portrayal of Jessamyn's journey from a timid Earth refugee to a brave leader is nothing short of inspiring. Berry's voice perfectly captures the essence of the story, making it feel as if you're right there with Jessamyn as she navigates the challenges of space travel and self-discovery. The pacing is just right, with moments of tension and adventure balanced by deeper, more introspective scenes. However, the one area where I found the audiobook lacking was in the development of secondary characters. While Jessamyn's growth is central to the story, the supporting cast feels underdeveloped at times, making it harder to connect with them.
