I wasn’t sold at first—the cover and premise suggested another derivative thriller, but *Trackers* quickly proved me wrong. The first act is a masterclass in tension-building, as Meyer introduces his players with surgical efficiency. Degas’s performance is particularly striking; his portrayal of the book’s damaged protagonist, Martinodal, crackles with a quiet, simmering rage that lingers long after the chapter ends. Meanwhile, Duncan’s portrayal of the abused housewife, Alida, is heartbreakingly understated, her fragility a perfect counterpoint to the book’s relentless momentum. That said, the production isn’t flawless. The ambient soundscape—essential for grounding the story—sometimes feels too prominent in quieter scenes, risking distraction. And while Meyer’s ambition is admirable, the middle act occasionally gets bogged down in bureaucratic infighting, threatening to derail the momentum. But these are minor quibbles. By the final act, as the threads converge in a burst of violence and betrayal, even the most critical listener will be breathless. Degas, Duncan, and Reichlin’s performances turn *Trackers* from a solid thriller into an immersive, edge-of-your-seat experience.
