Turning Face

As I listened to Turning Face, I found myself both enthralled and appalled by the sheer audacity of Terry M. West's vision. Todd Curless's performance was a big part of what drew me in - his ability to convincingly convey the character's slimy charm was impressive, if a little unsettling at times. One of the standout elements of the production is the way the sound design subtly integrates foley effects to bring the world of wrestling to life. It's these tiny details that elevate the listening experience from mere story to immersive experience. Of course, not everything about Turning Face works seamlessly. At times, the pacing feels a bit rushed, with some sections feeling like they're glossed over in favor of the more salacious elements. Additionally, some listeners may find Tojo Smith's character to be a bit one-note - his demonic mission feels more like a prop than a fully fleshed-out motivation. However, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise impressive and unsettling audiobook.
