The premise is deceptively simple: a chance encounter at a party forces two ex-lovers to confront the mess they left behind. But the execution is anything but. The pacing is relentless, with tension coiled so tight in some scenes I had to pause just to breathe. That said, the abrupt ending *will* divide listeners—it’s satisfying in its honesty, but those craving a tidy resolution might walk away frustrated. The narration, though, is where this audiobook *sings*. Wesleigh Siobhan’s delivery is a masterclass in subtext; she can make a single word—*“really?”*—drip with sarcasm, longing, or betrayal, depending on the beat. Winston James, meanwhile, brings a soulful weariness to his role, his voice rough around the edges like a man who’s spent too long pretending he’s over her. My only critique?
