Kai Kennicott’s narration of Semyon—the Ice King himself—is a masterclass in controlled menace. His voice drips with cold authority, yet there’s an undercurrent of something far more dangerous beneath the surface. Wen Ross, voicing our unnamed protagonist, nails the brittle, calculated energy of a woman who’s spent her life dancing on the edge of a knife. If there’s one critique, it’s that the story’s second act occasionally meanders, giving Henry’s otherwise razor-sharp plotting a moment to catch its breath. But this isn’t a flaw so much as a deliberate breath before the storm—a pause that makes the final act’s relentless momentum all the more satisfying.
