I must admit, I was initially drawn to 'When the Earl Learned to Love' by its promise of a strong-willed heroine and the tantalizing prospect of a romance that defies the conventions of Regency society. As I listened to Virtual Voice's engaging narration, I found myself fully invested in Lady Charlotte's journey, even if her journey felt a tad predictable at times. While the pacing could have benefited from a few more plot twists to keep me on the edge of my seat, Pierce's keen insight into the social hierarchies of the time period makes for a compelling listen. One aspect that stood out to me was the way Virtual Voice brought the supporting characters to life, particularly the Earl of Ashwood, whose subtle vulnerability and growing attachment to Lady Charlotte added a richness to the narrative. On the other hand, I felt that the supporting cast could have been fleshed out a bit more, with a few minor characters feeling somewhat one-dimensional. Nevertheless, 'When the Earl Learned to Love' remains a delightful listen for fans of historical romance, and Virtual Voice's narration is a significant contributor to its charm.
