Wicked Problems

I have to admit, I wasn't sure what to expect from Wicked Problems, but Max Gladstone's writing quickly won me over. The world-building is incredibly rich and detailed, with a deep history that underpins the entire narrative. The characters, too, are expertly drawn, with complex motivations and backstories that add depth to the story. Janina Edwards' narration is equally impressive, bringing a sense of warmth and humor to even the most intense moments. One of the things that really sets Wicked Problems apart is its willingness to tackle big themes and ideas. Gladstone doesn't shy away from exploring complex issues like power, corruption, and the nature of justice. At times, the pacing feels a bit frenetic, with the plot hurtling forward at a breakneck speed. While this can be thrilling, it also means that some characters and plot threads feel a bit short-changed. Additionally, some listeners may find the world-building to be overwhelming, particularly in scenes where the various factions and gods are introduced. However, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise excellent audiobook. Overall, I'd highly recommend Wicked Problems to fans of epic fantasy and science fiction. The story is engaging, the characters are compelling, and the world-building is top-notch. Janina Edwards' narration is a major highlight, making this an excellent listening experience from start to finish.
