Listening to Kathleen Early narrate Karin Slaughter's Will Trent series is like being on a rollercoaster ride through the darkest parts of Atlanta. Early's voice is the perfect instrument for Slaughter's complex, flawed characters, imbuing them with a depth that makes you care, even when you shouldn't. The pacing is relentless, with Slaughter's signature twists keeping you guessing until the very end. However, at times, the sheer volume of characters and subplots can feel overwhelming, and some threads could have been tied up more neatly. But these are minor quibbles in an otherwise outstanding trilogy. If you're a fan of gritty, unflinching crime thrillers, this is a must-listen.
