Witch

I was drawn into 'Witch' like a moth to a flame, and once I was in, I couldn't escape. Michael Pauley's narration is a masterclass in building tension. His voice is perfectly suited to the story, his pacing slow and deliberate, like the steady drip of water in a cave. The story itself is a slow burn, but it's not boring. It's like watching a pot of water come to a boil - you know something's going to happen, you just don't know when or how. Logan's use of the swamp as a character is brilliant, the way it seeps into Anne's life, into her mind, is genuinely unsettling. My only critique is that the ending felt a tad rushed, a stark contrast to the slow build-up. But even so, 'Witch' is a standout listen, a unique blend of horror and literary fiction that will leave you checking your surroundings for any signs of the supernatural.
