The narrative is well-paced for most of the book but can feel a bit overwhelming at times due to its fast clip. Despite this, Sorensen’s emotional depth brings each character to life, particularly Duke and Roemer, offering a nuanced portrayal of their motivations and actions. Fairbanks’ writing shines in his ability to contextualize events with insightful analysis, making the audiobook both an informative political journey and a compelling personal story. The only critique is that some sections could use more editorial pruning for clarity; still, this is one of the more gripping biographical/political listens out there.
