I’ll admit, I side-eyed the idea of cramming Hercules’ twelve labors into eleven minutes. But Gardner’s version doesn’t just condense—it *recontextualizes*. The writing leans hard into the absurdity of divine mandates, framing Heracles as a cosmic gig worker (“*Another hydra? Fine. But I’m expensing the arrows.*”). It’s the kind of humor that lands best if you’re already familiar with the myths, though—neophytes might miss the satire’s bite. Katie Haigh’s performance is a masterclass in deadpan delivery. She nails the exasperated sigh of a hero who’s *so* done with Zeus’ nonsense, and her pacing turns even the slimmest jokes into gut-punches. That said, the production’s brevity is a double-edged sword: the ending feels abrupt, like a comedian dropping the mic mid-set. And while the modern slang (*“Heracles yeeted that lion into the sun”*) mostly works, a few anachronisms clunk hard enough to pull you out of the groove. Still, for a palate-cleanser between heavier listens—or a party trick to play at your next mythology nerd gathering—this is pure, chaotic fun.
