I was captivated by 'King Midas' from start to finish. Gardner masterfully updates the ancient tale, adding layers of intrigue and social commentary that make it feel fresh and relevant. Spera's narration is a standout, his voice perfectly capturing the desperation and determination of the protagonist. The pacing is spot-on, building tension until the story's satisfying, thought-provoking conclusion. If I have one critique, it's that I wish it were longer! But at 17 minutes, it's a perfect, bite-sized listen that packs a powerful punch. My only other critique is that the ending feels a tad too neat, but it's a minor quibble in an otherwise excellent audiobook.
