I was drawn into Léo Maruin's story from the start, despite some initial reservations about the narration. Virtual Voice's delivery is matter-of-fact, which suits the subject matter perfectly. Maruin's experiences are harrowing, and the narrator's even tone makes the listener focus on the story rather than being swayed by emotional manipulation. The pacing is well-balanced, with Maruin's reflections on his experiences providing a welcome respite from the more intense moments. One area for improvement is the occasional awkward transition between chapters, which can be a bit jarring. Overall, I appreciated the audiobook's unflinching honesty and found it to be a thought-provoking listen.
