Anders Olsen isn’t your typical brooding hero; he’s a man unraveling under pressure, and Levine’s narration sells it. The audiobook shines in its quieter moments—Anders’ gruff tenderness when he’s off-duty, the SEALs ribbing each other in their off-grid hideout—where Levine’s voice drops to a rumble that feels like a hug. Marisa’s cynicism is a great foil, and their verbal sparring crackles without veering into caricature. That said, the plot leans heavily on contrivances: a reality TV twist that feels forced, and a villainous producer whose motives are cartoonishly evil. The ending wraps up too neatly, too fast, like Seton hit her word count and bolted. Still, the emotional core lands.
