I was immediately drawn into 'April's' world, and not just because of the intriguing premise. Virtual Voice's narration is a standout feature of this audiobook. They capture April's voice perfectly, making her sound like a real, relatable teen, even as she's dealing with extraordinary circumstances. The pacing is excellent, balancing action-packed sequences with quieter moments of introspection. The production quality is top-notch, with sound effects and music used sparingly but effectively to enhance the listening experience. My only minor critique is that some of the alien species and their motivations could have been a bit more distinct, but overall, 'April' is a thrilling ride that kept me listening late into the night.
