Santomasso nails the rhythm of a woman who’s two steps ahead of everyone but still stumbles over her own feet, her voice dropping into a growl when Cassie’s temper flares, then cracking with vulnerability in quiet moments. Hopkins, meanwhile, turns what could’ve been cardboard villains into unsettlingly plausible threats, especially in a scene where his character’s polite laughter curdles into something predatory. It’s a narration duo that understands silence as well as speech; the pauses between Cassie’s sarcastic quips carry as much weight as the lines themselves. The story’s biggest strength—and occasional frustration—is its relentless momentum. Ryan doesn’t waste time on red herrings; every clue, every confrontation pushes Cassie deeper into a conspiracy that feels eerily plausible (corrupt cops, shadowy tech moguls, and a trafficking ring hidden in plain sight). The pacing is brutal in the best way, though the middle act sags slightly under the weight of Cassie’s self-sabotage; there’s a fine line between flawed and exhausting, and she toe-dips over it once or twice. My other critique? The sound design, while immersive, occasionally overdoes the ambient noise—one bar scene’s clinking glasses nearly drowned out a critical line. But these are quibbles. By the final act, when Cassie’s personal and professional betrayals collide, I was gripping my phone like it was a lifeline.
