I devoured Black Arts, White Craft in a single marathon session, partly because Stephanie Richardson’s narration is so magnetic. Her ability to shift from Rue’s clipped, determined speech to the sultry menace of the black witch’s dialogue made the story pulse with life. The production quality is top-notch, with subtle sound effects—like the crackle of a spell going wrong or the whisper of enchanted objects—adding texture to every scene. What really hooked me was the blend of urban grit and magical absurdity; the setting feels like a neon-lit version of a fairy tale, where every alleyway hides a secret and every potion has a price. However, the pacing occasionally falters during quieter moments, leaving some plot threads underexplored. Also, while the character dynamics are rich, secondary figures like Camber and Arden feel underdeveloped, which is a shame given their central roles in the conflict. That said, the book’s audacious premise and Richardson’s performance more than make up for these flaws. It’s a wild ride that’ll leave you breathless and eager for the next chapter, even if the ending feels a bit rushed. If you crave a fantasy that’s equal parts satire and spectacle, this is a must-listen. But be warned: the story’s intensity might leave you questioning your own sanity by the end.
