About This Audiobook

Rue Hollis thinks she's finally found peace away from the Black Hat Bureau's clandestine operations, but fate has other plans. When a close partner needs help facing a dangerous new supernatural threat, Rue discovers her carefully constructed life is an illusion. Hailey Edwards delivers a sequel that plunges Rue back into high-stakes adventures where the paranormal is just part of everyday life. She navigates familiar foes and new dangers while trying to reclaim her autonomy. This is a story about duty, reluctant heroism, and the blurred lines between human and otherworldly threats. Stephanie Richardson's narration brings Rue's weary pragmatism and the chaos of supernatural encounters vividly to life, making the listener feel every heartbeat of Rue's escalating predicament.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I dove into *Black Hat, White Witch* eager to revisit Rue Hollis and the world Edwards crafted. Stephanie Richardson's narration is exceptional, perfectly capturing Rue's gruff, world-weary demeanor and transforming what could be chaotic banter and high-speed action into something truly engaging. Her delivery injects just the right amount of dry humor and underlying tension, making Rue feel like a real, flawed protagonist rather than just a vehicle for plot points. The story picks up immediately where the previous book left off, assuming listener familiarity, and Rue is perfectly suited to navigate the escalating threats and betrayals. I found the blend of classic Bureau intrigue with fresh supernatural elements very compelling and enjoyed the deeper exploration of Rue's relationships. However, the pacing occasionally flagged in the middle section as Rue processes her return, and the conclusion felt slightly rushed, leaving one or two plot threads only half-explained. Overall, a very strong entry in the series, beautifully performed by Richardson.
