Business as Usual

I was immediately drawn into Shane Walker's Business as Usual from the first chapter. The premise is clever and original - watching a game player become a CEO is a refreshing twist on the corporate thriller. Eric Michael Summerer's narration is exceptional; he captures the shift in Alex's personality as he transitions from gamer to business leader with remarkable subtlety. The pacing is excellent, moving from the initial game setting to the corporate world with a smooth transition that never feels forced. One thing I appreciated was the way the author balanced the humor of the gaming origins with the seriousness of the business challenges. The production quality is high, with clear sound and good pacing. The only minor critique is that some of the early game descriptions might feel a bit long for non-gamers, but this is easily overcome by the compelling narrative. Overall, this is a smart, entertaining audiobook that successfully blends gaming culture with traditional business storytelling.
