As someone who's been there for the 'chosen one' trope, I found 'CAG' to be a breath of fresh air. Ellis masterfully crafts a world that feels lived-in, with a protagonist who's seen it all and isn't afraid to show it. Virtual Voice's narration is a standout, bringing each character to life with a depth that's often missing in fantasy audiobooks. The pacing is excellent, balancing action and introspection, and the production is clean and unobtrusive. My only critique is that some of the world-building could have been more explicit, as I found myself occasionally lost in the details. But overall, 'CAG' is a fantastic listen that's perfect for those looking for a more mature take on epic fantasy.
