Hazen doesn’t just read the book—she inhabits it. Her delivery has a conversational intimacy that makes the audiobook feel like a late-night confessional. I especially appreciated how she modulates Zion’s voice: tentative at first, then growing firmer as she pieces together her mother’s hidden life. The mystery unfolds at a deliberate pace, which works for the genre, though at times I wished a few side characters had more dimension—there’s a flirtation subplot that feels undercooked. Production-wise, the audio is crisp and consistent, with no distracting background noise or volume shifts.
