About This Audiobook

Cascade Mountain snow isn’t just cold—it’s lethal. When nurse Brynn Nealey joins a search and rescue team hunting for crash survivors, she braces for frostbite, not secrets. But the real storm comes when she’s forced to team up with Alex Kinton, a disgraced marshal whose demons melt faster than the ice beneath their boots. Their mission isn’t just to find survivors—it’s to survive each other. Kendra Elliott delivers a thriller that’s equal parts pulse-pounding search-and-rescue and simmering romantic tension, wrapped in the kind of relentless suspense that makes you forget to breathe between chapters, let alone between sentences. The isolated wilderness becomes its own character here, a silent, snowy antagonist that keeps both protagonists—and listeners—on edge until the last flurry falls. Emily Sutton-Smith’s narration crackles like static on a dying radio, perfectly capturing the biting cold and charged chemistry between Brynn and Alex. Her voice shifts from icy detachment to smoldering frustration with startling precision, making every whispered exchange feel intimate, every confrontation feel like a collision. The pacing mirrors the snowfall—light at first, then heavier, until you’re buried in details and dread. If you’ve ever wanted a thriller that balances technical accuracy with raw emotion, this is it.

AudioBook Atlas

Emily Sutton-Smith’s narration is the secret weapon here. She doesn’t just read lines—she inhabits them, especially when Alex’s gruff exterior cracks under Brynn’s stubborn competence. Her voice has a physical presence, from the creak of winter gear to the hitch in Alex’s breath when he’s pushed too far. The production quality is impeccable; you can hear every gust of wind in the mountains, every page turn in a log cabin, which only heightens the immersion. My only quibble? The sheer number of named suspects becomes a bit of a headspin—Elliott throws so many locals into the mix early on that it’s hard to keep track of who’s who until the final act. Also, the resolution resolves a little too neatly for my taste. I wanted the mountain to claim more victims. That said, *Chilled* is a masterclass in tension. The first act drags just enough to make you question the odds—just like Brynn’s team does as they trek into the whiteout. The second act explodes with revelations, and the third delivers a finale that’s satisfying without being saccharine. Sutton-Smith sells every beat, whether it’s the crunch of snow underfoot or the unspoken attraction between Brynn and Alex. If you love thrillers where the setting is as dangerous as the people chasing you through it, this audiobook will leave you shivering—and craving more.
