Ciaphas Cain: Duty Calls

Stephen Perring delivers a standout performance as Commissar Cain, capturing his wry humor and sardonic wit perfectly. The supporting cast, including Penelope Rawlins and Emma Gregory, also shine, bringing depth and nuance to their characters. The story moves at a breakneck pace, seamlessly shifting from explosive battles to tense interrogations. Mitchell's world-building is impressive, painting a vivid picture of the grim, war-torn Imperium. However, some of the political machinations can feel a bit convoluted at times, and the sheer volume of characters can be overwhelming. But if you're a fan of epic, action-packed science fiction with a healthy dose of dark humor, 'Ciaphas Cain: Duty Calls' is an excellent choice.
