I was hooked from the get-go, with Michael Gilboe's narration quickly establishing a rapport that made me care about Steve's hapless adventures. As the series progressed, I found myself looking forward to Gilboe's clever inflections and tone shifts, which brought the characters to life in a way that felt authentic and engaging. However, I felt that the pacing occasionally suffered from too much repetition in the later installments, which threatened to disrupt the momentum of the story. That said, the sheer imagination displayed by Cain's world-building and storytelling made up for any minor missteps. I particularly enjoyed the way the author wove together disparate plot threads, often in unexpected and delightfully unexpected ways.
