I'll be honest, I was skeptical at first. The premise - a world of ice and fire, a hero with a mysterious past - seemed a bit clichéd. But Cain quickly proves me wrong. His world-building is impressive, with a rich history and mythology that feels lived-in. The magic system is unique and well-integrated into the plot, and the action sequences are some of the most thrilling I've encountered in an audiobook. Virtual Voice's narration is a real highlight - he brings each character to life with distinct voices and excellent timing. However, I did find some of the dialogue a bit stilted at times, and the pacing could have used a bit more variation.
