Close Call

I went into Close Call expecting a gripping thriller, but what I got was so much more. Chanté McCormick's narration is absolutely top-notch - her voice is like butter for my ears, and she brings Kate Green to life in a way that's both believable and mesmerizing. One of the things that really impressed me about Close Call is its ability to balance its many plot threads - it's not easy to juggle the kidnapping, the investigation, and Kate's personal struggles, but author Elise Hart Kipness makes it look effortless. My only critique is that some of the supporting characters feel a bit one-dimensional - I would have loved to see more depth and nuance in the people around Kate. That being said, I was completely caught up in Close Call's world and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. The pacing is breakneck, with twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. I also appreciated the way the author wove together themes of ambition, identity, and the high cost of success - it's a topic that's timely and thought-provoking, and Kate's struggles feel all too real. Overall, I would highly recommend Close Call to fans of mystery, thriller, and suspense - and if you're a fan of strong female protagonists, you'll love Kate Green. She's a true hero for our times, and I'm so grateful to have met her.
