Cyborgs' Claim

I dove into Cyborgs' Claim expecting a solid sci-fi erotica, and I was not disappointed. Michele Mills crafts a unique premise with the trio of ruthless cyborgs—Axel, Steel, and Gage—and the forbidden female they relentlessly pursue. Adam Gold's narration elevates this significantly. His voice work is intelligent and layered; he doesn't just read lines but brings distinct energy to each character, especially the cyborgs, making their cold exteriors and simmering internal conflicts palpable. The pacing is generally tight, keeping the plot—which involves escape, pursuit, and eventual seduction—moving forward at a satisfying clip. Mills's writing is straightforward but effective, focusing on the desired erotic elements amidst the sci-fi backdrop. However, the book's relatively short duration (just under six hours) feels a touch rushed at times, making some character moments land less impactfully. While the concept is strong and the execution is competent, the resolution, while satisfying on a basic level, could have explored the complexities left dangling by the cyborgs' creators and their past a bit more deeply. Overall, it's a quick, intriguing entry into the genre with strong narration.
