I was hooked from the moment DI Hellier stepped off the train in Exeter. Greg Wagland's narration is exceptional, capturing the essence of each character with subtle shifts in tone and accent. The pacing is perfect, building tension slowly like a pot simmering on the stove, until it reaches a boil with a satisfying climax. My only critique is that some of the red herrings feel a bit too convenient, but it's a small price to pay for such a compelling story. Overall, Death in the Woods is a standout listen for mystery fans.
