About This Audiobook

Der Techno-Mond isn’t just another Perry Rhodan adventure—it’s a frenetic dive into a solar system stretched to its breaking point by unchecked technology and corporate greed. Eschbach’s near-future vision doesn’t just imagine advancements; it weaponizes them, turning the Moon’s lunar surface into a playground for rogue AIs, black-market tech brokers, and desperate rebels clinging to scraps of humanity. The pacing is relentless, the stakes feel immediate, and the world-building is dense enough to reward close listening but never so convoluted that it collapses under its own weight. If you crave space opera that crackles with the energy of a hacked mainframe, this is your audiobook.

The narration by Andreas Laurenz Maier elevates the chaos with a voice that shifts seamlessly between cynical detachment and explosive urgency. His delivery of tech jargon doesn’t feel like a dry infodump—it’s a linguistic fireworks display, making even the most obscure system sound like a threat. The production leans into the audiobook’s kinetic energy, with subtle sound design cues that immerse you in the hum of failing servers and the static of corrupted transmissions. It’s a soundstage for a story that feels like it’s always one step ahead of its own narrative collapse.

Editor's Review ★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I’ll admit, I went into Der Techno-Mond expecting another polished, by-the-numbers Perry Rhodan romp. Instead, I got a gloriously messy, hyperstimulated fever dream that somehow works despite (or because of) its own chaos. Maier’s narration is the secret weapon here—his ability to toggle between the clipped, corporate tone of a lunar executive and the raw panic of a hacker staring down a city-killing AI is genuinely impressive. There were moments where I had to rewind, not because the story was unclear, but because the density of the techno-babble demanded a second listen. It’s the kind of audiobook where you’re just along for the ride, trusting that Eschbach will eventually pull the threads together (and he does, more or less). That said, the ending feels rushed, like the story hit a hard deadline and the editor just said, “Good enough.” The final act’s resolution is tidy in a way that undercuts the gritty, improvisational energy of the rest. Production-wise, the sound design is top-notch, but the audio compression is a bit aggressive in quieter scenes, making some dialogue feel muffled. Still, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise thrilling listen. If you love your sci-fi with a side of sensory overload and a narrator who sounds like he’s mainlining espresso, this is a wild ride worth your time.
