About This Audiobook

Rhys Dylan’s *Druid’s Moor* isn’t your average moorland mystery—it’s a slow-burn nightmare where the land itself feels alive. The story follows a detective drawn into the disappearance of a local historian, uncovering layers of folklore and violence buried beneath the peat and gorse. Dylan’s prose is rich with atmosphere, but it’s the tension that lingers: whispers of ancient rites, a body found only partially dug up, and a village that would rather forget than confront its past. This isn’t a tale of red herrings and tidy resolutions; it’s a meditation on how history festers when left unchecked, and how easily the modern world can become the next layer of myth.

What makes this audiobook stand out is Tobias Weatherburn’s narration, which walks a razor’s edge between understated dread and outright unease. His voice carries the weight of a man who’s seen too much, and he doesn’t overplay the horror—just lets the dread seep through in pauses and inflections. The production enhances the immersion, with minimal sound design that subtly underscores the isolation of the moor. If you’re after a thriller that lingers in your skull like damp earth, *Druid’s Moor* delivers in spades.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I finished *Druid’s Moor* with a sense of creeping unease that stuck with me for days—no small feat for an audiobook. Tobias Weatherburn’s performance is a masterclass in restraint; his voice has the grit of someone who’s spent too long in a place where the wind carries more than it should. The pacing is deliberate, almost languid at times, which mirrors the way the protagonist (and the moor) refuse to give up their secrets quickly. Weatherburn nails the moments when the dialogue feels like a threat disguised as small talk, like two villagers discussing the weather while carefully avoiding the topic of the bones in the bog. That said, the audiobook’s length is a double-edged sword. The slow build works for the story’s themes, but there were moments where I wished the narrative pushed forward instead of circling back to the same eerie symbolism. The production itself is excellent—crisp and immersive—but the narration occasionally slips into a monotone during the more exposition-heavy sections, pulling me out of the mood. Still, Dylan’s writing and Weatherburn’s performance more than make up for it. If you’re a fan of atmospheric thrillers where the real villain is the history you’ve never been told, this is a must-listen. Just don’t expect to sleep easy afterward.
