I’ll admit, I went into *Frost* expecting another *Hunger Games* retread, but Kozlowsky’s novel carves its own path with a setting that’s as oppressive as it is original. The high-rise isn’t just a backdrop; it’s a pressure cooker, and Fiallo’s narration makes you *feel* the weight of those crumbling floors. Her Frost is all jagged edges—one minute snarling at the robots hunting her, the next whispering like she’s afraid the walls themselves are listening. The audiobook’s sound design is understated but effective: a distant metallic scrape here, a muffled thud there, all serving to ratchet up the paranoia. That said, the middle act drags slightly as Frost’s internal monologue circles the same fears. And while the Eaters (the book’s human-turned-monster threats) are terrifying in concept, their motivations remain frustratingly vague. Still, the final act delivers a gut-punch twist that reframes everything, and Fiallo’s performance in those last chapters is *electric*—she makes Frost’s desperation physical, like you can hear her heart hammering through the headphones. If you love your sci-fi with a side of psychological unease and a narrator who refuses to let you look away, this is your next listen. Just maybe don’t start it before bed.
