That said, the production occasionally leans into the robotic edge of AI narration, especially during emotional peaks where you crave a human’s raw vulnerability. Plot-wise, Sumida’s twist on familiar tales is undeniably fun, but the pacing stumbles in the middle act of the anthology. The first two stories (Mermaid and Cinderella) zip along with infectious charm, but the latter three sag slightly under the weight of their own lore, making the final hour feel like a slog compared to the sprightly start. Still, the sheer audacity of the storytelling—like a fairy godmother roasting a protagonist mid-monologue—keeps it from ever feeling dull. If you love messy, trope-heavy fantasies with a saucy edge and can forgive the occasional flat line reading, this is a wild ride.
