Ivy isn’t some weepy heroine—she’s furious, terrified, and stubbornly practical, and Elizabeth Hart’s narration sells every eye-roll and panicked internal scream. When she snaps at her brother’s teammate (and baby daddy) Jamie, you *feel* the history between them: the childhood rivalry, the unspoken attraction, the way his hockey-famous ego grates against her ‘I don’t need your help’ attitude. Alexander Cendese’s Jamie is the standout here. He avoids the trap of making the ‘player with a heart of gold’ cliché by letting Jamie’s immaturity show—his voice gets this perfect mix of swagger and *‘wait, am I screwing this up?’* hesitation. The production is clean, but I’ll dock half a point for a few scenes where the emotional beats feel rushed (Ivy’s big reveal to her family could’ve used more breathless pause). Still, the banter is *chef’s kiss*—especially the hockey locker-room scenes, where Ney’s dialogue shines—and the slow burn pays off in a finale that’s equal parts sweet and steamy.
