The pacing is flawless: the first act meanders just enough to make Ohia feel lived-in, then accelerates into a sprint by the midway point. My only complaint? The audiobook’s abridged runtime (6h53m) cuts off too soon—critical character moments feel rushed, like a hula dancer mid-pirouette. Production-wise, the sound design is subtle but effective, with waves crashing just loud enough to remind you where you’re “listening” from. If you’ve ever wanted a mystery that’s equal parts *Gilmore Girls* and *Magnum P.I.*, this is it. Just don’t expect a nap.
