Cordileone’s narration is the secret weapon—she nails the sarcastic asides and romantic sighs without overdoing it, which keeps the audiobook from feeling like a Hallmark script. The premise feels overly familiar at first (spin the wheel, date the guy, write the book?), but Dodd avoids the trap of making it feel contrived. Instead, the story leans into the absurdity, and that’s where it shines. That said, the second act drags a bit when Kitty’s love interest feels underdeveloped, and some of the emotional beats land flatter than they should. The ending wraps up neatly, which might frustrate readers craving more grit. Still, if you’re in the mood for a light, bingeable romance with a modern twist, this audiobook delivers—just don’t expect it to rewire your heart.
