I’ll admit I had my doubts: could a small-town rom-com sustain my attention for six solid hours? The answer is a resounding yes, and it’s 90% thanks to Andi Arndt’s performance. She nails Heidi’s chaotic charisma from the get-go—her voice cracks like a teenager who just discovered sarcasm, then mellows into something warm and genuine when Heidi’s vulnerable. The pacing is spot-on, too; the jokes land because the story never lingers too long in any one emotional lane, and the steamy scenes are handled with just the right amount of tension. My only critiques? A handful of side characters slip into caricature—especially the town’s gossip queen, whose Minnesota cliché gets a bit thick. And while the humor is mostly gold, a few punchlines feel like they’re trying too hard to be quote-worthy. Still, by the time Heidi’s romantic epiphany hits, I found myself grinning like a fool. This is the audiobook equivalent of a comfort food binge: messy, satisfying, and impossible to resist.
