I approached *iDetective* skeptically, expecting another gimmicky choose-your-own-adventure hybrid with all the depth of a sudoku puzzle. But Glass’s writing punches above its weight. The stories are distilled to their essence: a single crime, a handful of suspects, and a narrative that unfolds like a cross-examination. The Virtual Voice narrator deserves special mention here—its synthetic tone is eerie in the best way, delivering lines with the flat precision of a dispatch officer’s report, yet modulating subtly when it’s your turn to “speak.” The pacing is the real star: each story zips along at a brisk 3-4 minutes, leaving you either triumphant or seething by the time the truth drops. My one critique? The early cases lean a bit too hard on the “shock” factor, prioritizing twist over plausibility. And while the narration avoids human inflection, it occasionally stumbles over Glass’s more verbose clues, making a couple of reveals feel less elegant.
