The middle act drags slightly as Casey interviews suspects—Hechtman leans *hard* into the “cozy” pacing, and a few red herrings feel more like padding than genuine misdirection. I also wished for more atmospheric descriptions of the coastal setting; while Strom’s performance evokes the vibe, the writing sometimes skims over the sensory details that could’ve deepened the immersion. Still, the payoff is worth it: the final reveal is clever without being convoluted, and the knitting metaphors (because of *course* there are knitting metaphors) actually work as a framing device.
