Kuka Harry Potter?

I’ll admit, I was skeptical when I heard *Kuka Harry Potter?* was getting an English translation—after all, how much can you really deconstruct Harry Potter before it collapses under its own cleverness? But Kontio’s script is so sharp and specific that it transcends parody. The story follows a Finnish boy named Harry (yes, really) who stumbles into a world where magic is just another way to escape the tedium of adolescence. The first act is hilarious, skewering both Finnish stoicism and the absurdity of magical prophecies with lines like, *“Harry Potter was the kid who got his ass handed to him in gym class—until he discovered he could set things on fire by accident.”* That said, the middle act drags a bit. Kontio’s world-building is clever but occasionally over-indulgent, with too many scenes devoted to Harry’s internal monologue about masturbation or his crush on a cheerleader who may or may not be a witch. Mikkola’s performance salvages some of this, but there’s a point where the audiobook feels like it’s coasting on charm rather than substance. The ending, however, redeems everything—a bittersweet, open-ended conclusion that leaves you wondering if the magic was ever real to begin with. If you love fantasy with a side of existential dread and a healthy dose of humor, this is worth your time. Just don’t expect another *Harry Potter*—this one’s a wildcard.
