Marvin Schlick’s performance is the audiobook’s secret weapon. His voice has the weathered gravitas of a man who’s seen too many sunsets over bloodstained sand, and he nails the dry humor that keeps the story from taking itself too seriously. My only gripe? His female voices occasionally veer into stiff territory, though it’s a minor quibble in an otherwise stellar reading. The production is flawless—no distracting edits or volume jumps—letting the story’s clockwork precision take center stage.
