Now, the narration: Erin Mallon is a powerhouse. She nails the heroine’s mix of righteous fury and creeping doubt, especially in scenes where her principles are tested. Teddy Hamilton, though, is the revelation. His delivery walks the line between cocky and contrite, and there’s a moment mid-book where his voice *cracks*—just slightly—when his character admits he’s in over his head, and it’s *devastating*. My only critique? The pacing in the first act is *almost* too aggressive. Kent throws us into the conflict so fast that the initial hostility between the leads borders on unlikable—until you realize that’s the point.
