I devoured Lovely Girls in a single, long listen, drawn in by the intricate character study and the slow-burning tension that permeates the story. Kimberly Woods and Vivienne Leheny's narration is superb, capturing the fraught relationship between Kate and Alex with nuance and sensitivity. One area where the audiobook falters is in its occasionally clunky pacing, which can make the narrative feel a bit disjointed. Additionally, some of the supporting characters feel underdeveloped, which can make it hard to become fully invested in their stories. Still, the production is top-notch, and the themes of grief, trauma, and female identity are timely and thought-provoking.
