Main Street (Annotated): 100th Anniversary Edition

As someone who usually finds classics a bit of a slog, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Main Street. Kitty Hendrix's narration is a significant part of that enjoyment. She infuses Lewis's writing with a modern energy, making the story feel relevant and engaging. I loved how she brought out the absurdity of the small-town characters, turning what could have been one-dimensional stereotypes into fully realized, laugh-out-loud funny individuals. The pacing is spot-on, never lingering too long on descriptions or internal monologues, keeping the story moving at a brisk clip. My only critique is that Hendrix's male voices could use a bit more distinction, but that's a minor quibble in an otherwise excellent performance. Overall, this audiobook is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a laugh-out-loud classic that still packs a punch a century later.
