Mitch Mythic, Book Two: The Other Side of Beyond

I’ll admit—I was skeptical going into this one. Mitch Mythic’s first adventure left me emotionally bruised, and after a year of recovery, I wasn’t eager to jump back into his head. But Jimmy Baldwin’s performance alone sold me. He nails Mitch’s exhausted sarcasm in the opening chapters, then morphs into a breathless conduit of panic as the interdimensional cracks start showing. Baldwin’s pacing is flawless: he lets the silence hang like a knife when Mitch’s mind fractures, then ratchets up the speed during the hackers’ chases so you’re literally holding your breath. The production is crisp, with subtle atmospheric layers that make the void feel tangible—until Ormond’s story steps on those layers with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. My only critique? Some of the deep-web jargon gets lost in the narration’s speed, requiring me to rewind once or twice. But the payoff is worth it: the climax, where Mitch’s perception of time and space collapses entirely, is one of the most unsettling audiobook experiences I’ve had this year. If you crave sci-fi that doesn’t just tickle your imagination but gnaws at it, this is your next obsession.
