Murder with Clotted Cream

I devoured Murder with Clotted Cream in a single sitting, mesmerized by the intricate web of relationships and secrets that drive the story. C.S.E. Cooney's narration is a major part of the book's appeal - she brings a sense of warmth and intimacy to the characters, making it feel like you're eavesdropping on a conversation between old friends. Her pacing is spot-on, perfectly balancing the book's more lighthearted moments with the darker, suspenseful scenes. One of the things that sets Murder with Clotted Cream apart is its thoughtful exploration of themes like small-town life, relationships, and the power of art to reveal hidden truths. The book's climax is both surprising and satisfying, and the author does a great job of tying up loose ends without feeling overly convenient. My only quibble is that the supporting characters could be fleshed out a bit more - it's easy to tell who's who, but I found it hard to remember some of the minor players. Still, this is a minor complaint in an otherwise excellent listen.
