I was immediately drawn into the gritty world of New Orleans Homicide from the opening chapter. Bill Burrows' narration is a masterclass in bringing a diverse cast of characters to life, with each voice and accent perfectly capturing the essence of the city. The pacing is relentless, with a perfect balance of tension and release that kept me hooked until the final chapter. Dalglish's attention to detail in the police procedural elements is commendable, and the audiobook does an excellent job of weaving together multiple storylines to create a satisfying conclusion. However, I did find the ending to be a bit rushed, and I would have liked to see more character development for some of the secondary characters.
